August Favourites 2017

Another month has gone by and we are now in Fall/Autumn!! To be honest I’m pretty excited for this season, I can start layering my clothes and lighting the fire!

I have a few things I have really been loving over the past month, so I thought I would do another monthly favourites post!

Evian Facial Spray

IMG_1345

Over the past few weeks the humidity in Ireland has been so high and I hate when I start getting really hot and sweaty! I went into Penny’s/Primark and I picked up this little beauty! I haven’t stopped using it since I bought it, it is so refreshing! I know it is just water in a spray can, but it is just so handy to have in your bag, especially for the days when the humidity is through the roof! Another plus to this product is, you can use it over make-up, I have used it several times when I had make up on and it didn’t destroy it and it didn’t make my mascara run!

Primark Demi Wispies Lashes

IMG_1431

I got so excited when I seen these in my local Penny’s/Primark, I love the Ardell Wispies, but paying €6 for lashes, that I usually only wear once, is a bit much. These lashes are only €1.50!!! They are so easy to apply and they are very very comfortable to wear! I got so many compliments from people, asking if they were my own! I went in to buy more and they were all out of stock, so clearly other people are loving them too!

Catrice HD Liquid Coverage Foundation

IMG_1354.jpg

I started to get bored with my current foundation, so I went and bought the Catrice HD Liquid Coverage Foundation, I wanted to try one that was high coverage and this seemed to be just that. I am really impressed with this foundation, especially considering the price, €7.95. I don’t want to give much away because I am working on the product review at the moment, it will be posted soon!

River Island Fur Loafers

IMG_0675

I am seriously in love with these loafers! I’m trying to get as much wear out of them as possible, now that we are in Fall the weather is going to start getting bad, so I will barely get to wear them! They are very comfortable to wear and are true to size! They are currently on sale for €18, which is a bargain! I wanted to buy the pink ones, because I loved these so much, but I just don’t think I will get the wear out of them now with the season change. I love that I can wear a simple outfit and add these as a statement, some people don’t like them, but I just love that they are different!

Supplements

IMG_1358

Slippery Elm

I have only been taking this product for about two weeks, but I needed to add it to my favourites! For as long as I can remember I have suffered with IBS and it has caused me a lot of other problems including my high anxiety. This week was the first time, in a few years that I was able to go out for a meal with my friends without any pain, or panic attacks and I honestly couldn’t believe it!! So far I am seeing amazing results, but I don’t want to get my hopes up too much, just in case it doesn’t stay this way! If you suffer with IBS I would highly recommend this product!

Digestive Enzymes

I have been taking these for just over a month and they are also doing an amazing job for my digestion! The digestive enzymes give your body that extra help to break down Protein, fat and carbohydrates! I take these after my meals, and they really help to get rid of the full bloated feeling when you eat too much or eat too quickly! I have also found they have help with bloating!

Herbal Teas

IMG_1365

Turmeric Gold

You may have noticed by now I am on a bit of a health kick! While doing research on digestion and herbal remedies I found out turmeric is a natural anti inflammatory! Straight away I thought the tea might help with the pains I get when my body is digesting food. I can’t say for sure that it does because Iv been taking the Slippery Elm at the same time, but the pains are gone, so it was either or! I added it to my list because I love the taste of it, I used to hate herbal teas, but after drinking them for a while your taste buds get used to the taste!

Supreme Matcha Green

I picked up the Matcha tea because I heard it was great for giving you energy! I was hoping it would be as good as my coffee, but let’s be honest, nothing can replace coffee! Again it is a really nice tea to drink and I love have a cup with my breakfast! I have been trying to drink more herbal teas instead of coffee, but it’s not as easy as I had hoped!

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Book

IMG_1217.jpg

Not only am I trying to learn more about my digestion I am also trying to learn more about my mind, I have suffered with anxiety for a long time now. Although I have found tricks to cope with it, I would also like to learn more about why I think the way I do. I am really enjoying this book, it is so easy to read and to follow, there are little activities to take part in, which help give you a better understanding of the chapters! I would highly recommend it to anyone suffering with mental health problems!

Grace & Frankie

Grace-and-Frankie-Netflix-Original-Cast

This show came up on my Netflix recommendations and I decided to give it a watch, myself and my Fiance have been binge watching it every weekend! It is such a funny TV show and the story is very good! We are nearly done all the episodes and it will be May before the next season comes out 😦 It is a show about two couples in their 70’s, the 2 husbands tell their wives they are leaving them, for each other, as they have decided to get married after a 20 year affair! The show follows both the lives of the wives and the husbands and how they are coping with their new life’s! It sounds quite confusing, but it is hilarious!

What is your August favourite?

Thank you for reading!

My Top 5 Fashion Designers!

While studying Fashion Design in college I was inspired and influenced by many great designers, but there are 5 who really stuck out to me, and who I felt a connection with, not only on their design level but their life stories!!

Alexander McQueen

Lee-Alexander-McQueen-e1432034522134

McQueen was one of the first designers I fell in love with, his work inspired me to pursue my dream of being a designer! I loved his sharp and keen eye for detail! I love anything dark and Gothic, although I don’t dress that way, it is how I like to design and it is where I find most of my inspiration!

McQueen got his inspiration from a lot of places, but one I loved the most was the Salem Witch Trials, he had found out he was distantly related to Elizabeth How, a woman accused of witch craft during that period and he decided to use this as his inspiration for his 2007 A/W Ready To Wear collection! Sadly McQueen is no longer with us, but his work is continued on by Sarah Burton and I still feel his style is there, it is slightly different but it still has that McQueen feel!

Zac Posen

zac-posen-portrait-michael-beauplet_horiz

I discovered Posen on Pinterest a while back, I was looking at evening wear dresses and my face hit the floor when I seen one of his gowns. Straight away I knew I was going to love this designer and I did! His gowns are amazingly constructed and the structure he uses in his designs is so fresh and different from other designers!

He designs gowns that really enhance the female figure, which I find beautiful! During a design project in college, I let his design style influence me, I ended up designing a dress which had a structural element to the bodice. I was told by my tutors that it wasn’t going to work, but I was determined to make it work! I work on it for a while and I did it, I made the dress!

Gareth Pugh

Gareth-Pugh-afterparty-copie

When I seen Pugh’s work for the first time I was blown away, I loved how dark his work was but I also loved how he wasn’t afraid to go outside the box!

His collections never failed to impress me and each time I look at his work I feel inspired and motivated to stay true to who I am as a designer! Pugh experiments with different materials, different shapes and forms, he doesn’t stick to the traditional and that is why I like his work!

Jeremy Scott (Moschino)

jeremy-scott-feature-image2

I have always loved Moschino, but after watching Jeremy Scott: The People’s Designer on Netflix, I learned just how much work Scott put in to be where he is today! I find his story so inspiring and motivational, Iv doubted myself so many times (still do) but seeing how he came up from rejection and proved that he had what it took to be a designer.

Although his style isn’t the same as mine, I cant help but feel some major love for his designs, they are different and fun and also quite nostalgic!!(Barbie Collection)

Donatella Versace (Versace)

Donatella-Versace-inside10

Versace has also been a long time love of mine, but I didn’t know much about its background. That was until I watched House of Versace I was fascinated by the story and felt the film was done so well! I had a whole new-found respect for Donatella, she had been through hell and came back fighting and stronger than ever!

I’m forever repeating myself, but she is so inspiring, I struggled a lot in college (A story for another post) but after watching this film it actually did give me a little kick, and I knew I could get through it! It is very interesting how other people’s story’s can have such an impact on our own life’s, especially when it is someone you have never met!

Who is your favourite designer?

Thank you for reading!

The Design Diary

I have always wanted to have a fashion blog, but I also wanted to have a fashion blog that was different and offered more than just outfit ideas and hauls. To achieve this, I have planned a new series called The Design Diary!

This series will show my step by step process to completing an evening wear collection. The design process is long and has many stages from research to sampling and then to the final product!

I have always found the process very interesting and fun, watching my work going from an idea to a finished product.

I thought this series would be interesting for anyone who loves fashion, and who likes to see things come to life.

If you enjoy fashion and love design, I hope you will join me in this journey and hopefully enjoy the process as much as I will!

The first post of the series will be posted midday tomorrow!!

Wardrobe Wish List

Just when I think I have all the clothes I need, I find something else I want to add to my wardrobe!!

I am currently trying to build a collection of statement and essential items, similar to a capsule wardrobe. My main goal at the moment is to find shoes and jackets!

Mules

( V by Very / Lost Ink )

I’m not a huge fan of sandals, so mules are the next best thing for summer! There are so many choices this season, and I just can’t seem to choose one pair! I am torn between these pink embroidered mules from V by very and these simple black textured mules from Lost Ink!

Which would you choose?

Mom Jeans

TS26A73KMDT_Zoom_M_1

(Β TopshopΒ )

I’ve been living in skinny jeans for a while, and I just feel it’s time for a change! I was considering the boyfriend style jean, but because of my body shape they didn’t suit me at all! Mom jeans would definitely be a better fit! They would also be a better option for the summer!

Rain Coat

3046028620_1_1_1

( Zara )

When I was in Zara a little while back, I spotted this rain coat and straight away it reminded me of a coat I had as a kid, which in fact I hated, but clearly my taste has changed. I love the texture of the material! Funny enough I live in a country where it is raining all the time, and I don’t even own a proper rain coat!

Tulle Dress/Top

5643034800_2_1_1

( ZaraΒ )

I’ve been loving the new tulle tops and dresses, they are perfect for layering in the summer! I don’t feel comfortable wearing crop tops, but if I was wearing this over it I would feel a bit more comfortable! I like the embroidery on this top, but I would prefer a plain one, which I could add to.

Leather Ankle Boots

TS42K04KBLK_Zoom_M_1

( Topshop )

I know we are going into Spring, but living in Ireland the weather is very unpredictable! I have plenty of boots, but they all have heels. What I need is a plain pair of leather boots that are low heeled and will go with pretty much everything! I wanted these boots from Topshop but they are currently sold out, so I need to find something similar!

This is all I have on my wish list so far, but I’m sure I will have more very soon!

What is on your wardrobe wish list??

Trend Spotting: Embroidered Jeans

Β (recent post from my old blog)

FotorCreated
In the sixties jeans underwent a make-over by university and college students, when they began adding patches and embroidery work to their denim.
This style was seen a few times since the 60s but this year they have come back with a bang!
High street brands such as Topshop and Zara have many styles of embroidered jeans in there Spring/Summer 2017 collections, ranging in colour, size and design!
Not only have they different styles of embroidery, they also used the technique on different style of jeans, from skinny to mom jeans!
Although this style of jean wouldn’t be considered capsule wardrobe material, they would make for a cute Spring/Summer staple!

I’m Engaged!!

IMG_20170213_195156_241

A few weeks ago my boyfriend of 7 and a half years asked me to marry him!

If you follow me on Instagram you may have already known this, but today I decided to share my engagement story with you!

I’ve been with James for 7 and a half years now and to be honest I knew for years that I would be with him for the rest of my life!

I met James when I was 16, through mutual friends. It wasn’t love at first sight, but the more we hung out, the more we got to know each other and then we ended up falling in love! ahhh

Β Myself & James when we first started going out

Before I dive into the engagement story, I want to mention how I always believed my engagement wouldn’t be a surprise!

When it comes to surprises, I am like a sniffer dog, I always know when things are going on and I always find out before the surprise is revealed, Christmas, birthdays and gifts!

The weekend of our engagement James booked the Morgan hotel in Dublin. This is our favorite home away from home, we have been here several times for weekend breaks, so this didn’t set off any alarm bells!

After checking in we went into the city center to do some shopping and to get some coffee!

We went into Zara, I was running around awing over all the lovely clothes and I turned around and James was just standing staring at me with this loving smile. Usually he would be complaining that I am dragging him around different shops but he wasn’t he just stood smiling, I didn’t even think anything of it, no alarm bells here either! ha

We both wanted to get a bottle of champagne and strawberries for our little getaway weekend!

James decided he wanted to buy a bottle of Moet, but when I seen the price I was almost sick, I’m a pretty frugal person and to spend €40 on a bottle of champagne would have made me sick, so James settled for a much cheaper bottle!

Again this didn’t set of any alarm bells, even though James was so persistent that he wanted to get the Moet!

Before heading back we went into Lush and bought a few of their bath bombs and bubble bars! I don’t live near a lush so the only time I get to buy any is when I go to Dublin!

Later that night we went for a meal in the Morgan hotel restaurant, seriously it was the nicest meal I had in a while!

I ordered the Pasta Arrabiata and James had the steak with sweet potato fries….which I ate on him!

We also had some cocktails with our meal, I had the Morgan Bubbles, which I have to get every time I am there!

Β The only Pictures taken that night!!

I brought my camera to the meal and I barely took any photos, which I am kicking myself over now!

After the meal we went back to our room, I sat on the edge of the bed to take off my shoes. James came over to me with his hand in his back pocket, saying you know the way we have been going out for a while now and began to take his hand out of his pocket.

He got down on one knee with the box held out in front of me and asked me to marry him, by this time I was balling my eyes out, repeating, stop joking, your messing, is this really happening?!

In all the shock of everything I forgot to say yes, James was still on his knee waiting for my reply, so is that a yes?? YES!

The ring is so beautiful and it fit perfectly, I couldnt have chosen a better one myself!!

I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better moment! The feeling you get during that moment is life changing, I never felt so happy!

I honestly thought he was joking with me, I thought he was going to pull out a gift card or something!

He then informed me that my family knew all about it, for a week!! This really shocked me, my sister especially, she can’t hold water and I am so surprised she didn’t say anything!

I shook his hand and said congratulations, you managed to surprise me! we laughed for ages and then popped the champagne and called our families!

I then had a nice long bath with my lush bath bomb and my glass of champagne! We later curled up and watched the only movie that was on the TV, Never Been Kissed!

It was the most amazing night/weekend of my life, I honestly couldn’t stop smiling and I can’t wait to start this new chapter with my Fiance!!!

Sailor Saturday!

(Recent Post from my old blog)

IMG_8408

I recently purchased this gorgeous leather jacket from Zara, I’ve had my eye on it since they released their Spring/Summer 17 collection!

I always wear black, but recently I felt I needed to add some colour variety to my coats/jackets, so a white leather jacket is definitely a change!

I decided to go down the monochrome path and paired the jacket with this black and white striped top, black jeans and plain black boots!

10 Things About Me

Hello Lovelies!

Seen as this is a new blog, I thought it would be a good idea to share some facts about myself! As the title says above, here are 10 things about me!

1. I’m musically challenged

I Love music, so much I can’t decide which genre is my favourite! Growing up I loved every kind of music from heavy metal to rap! Now I’m 24 and I still can’t pick just one. People used to call me musically challenged because I dressed really grunge and loved heavy metal and Rock n Roll, but I would still listen to the likes of BeyoncΓ© and Lady Gaga.

I don’t think it is a bad thing to like a bit of everything, I recently started listening to K-pop!! Lets just say my Google Play account has a nice variety of music!!

My current obsession is with Twenty One Pilots! Those two guys are gods!

2. I love making lists!

gif2

I seriously love to make lists, I make lists for pretty much everything and I still don’t follow them!

Everyone in my first college always knew me for making lists, if we were given a task all I would hear is ‘Tanya’s going to make a list’ πŸ˜‚ and I would of course!

Buying a new notebook gives me so much joy, and I cant wait to start filling it with lists of things that need to be done or bought!

If only this was an actual job, I would flourish!!

3. I graduated from fashion design

LOOK2

After studying Fashion design for 5 years, I am finally fully qualified! Growing up I always wanted to be a designer, more so a bridal designer as I was obsessed with weddings!

LOOK2.5

In my final year I completed a collection consisting of 3 fully finished garments! Unfortunately I wasn’t 100% happy with them, as I felt they weren’t exactly what I wanted. But the main thing is I completed a collection of clothing all on my own!πŸ’ͺ

4. I’m obsessed with TV shows

I used to be a huge movie buff, until I started watching TV more! Now I watch so many TV shows, I actually have to make a timetable, so I know when they are on! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ I know what you are thinking ‘this girl is a nut’, but hey! I love the little things in life! πŸ˜‚βœŒοΈ

5. I’m loud and easily excited!

giphy

I am a very shy person when I meet new people, but when I get to know people I really open up, and trust me it can be a shock to most! I LOVE to laugh and very loudly at that!

I’m easily excited and it can be over the smallest thing, as I said I love the little things in life!

6. I suffer with anxiety

hello-my-name-is-anxiety

Over the last 3 years I have dealt with Anxiety and was diagnosed with GAD – General Anxiety Disorder and Phobophobia – yes this is a fear of fear πŸ˜‚

Last year was the hardest of all, mainly due to my final year of college and the stress of getting work done!

Although I’m not over this anxiety, everyday it gets a bit better! I will talk more about my experience in a later post!

7. I have 1 tattoo

IMG_8810

I have one little tattoo on my forearm, to most it is unreadable (which is kind of what I wanted) but I love it!

When I was going through my dark period, there was one artist that I listened to on a loop and that was Sia and the lyrics to this song spoke to me a lot, and so I got it tattooed on me as a reminder that I was strong and I would survive whatever life threw at me!

8. I had an imaginary best friend!

tumblr_n02acqrngT1sqg6xdo1_500

Yes you read that right, I had an imaginary friend! How awesome is that! πŸ˜‚ It all started when I was 4/5, I’m not sure if it was a boy or a girl, all I know is that their name was Tallaght and we were a nightmare!!

My dad told me he sat on them once, and I got very upset! My mother even had to set out an extra seat at the table for them!

God I was a weird kid….but I’m an even weirder adult πŸ˜‚

9. I’m afraid of Motionless Faced costumes!

3862487060_63a9f147c7

Yeah this is a weird one!Β  Ever since I was a kid I’ve been afraid of big costumes with motionless faces!πŸ˜‚ I’m pretty sure it is from being scared by one when I was a kid!

Now when I see them I turn and walk/run the other way πŸ˜‚ They creep me out!!

10. I play a lot of Call of Duty!

IMG_8777

I have an obsession with playing Call of Duty! I love playing online with other people, but I can get very competitive, I’m pretty much Monica from friends!

Screen Shot 2016-03-25 at 12.29.55 AM

It’s the only game I am actually good at playing!πŸ˜‚ Well that and the Sims!

I hope I didn’t scare anyone away!πŸ˜‚ I hope you enjoyed this post and stick around for future ones! πŸ˜€

Leave me a comment with something about you!

Welcome!!

Hey There!! πŸ‘‹πŸ‘‹

I’ve never been good at introducing myself, even typing on the internet I feel awkward!

Introducing myself always reminds me of when I was in school. Anytime you joined a new class or course, the teacher would go around and make everyone introduce themselves, god the nerves of having to talk in front of people I didn’t know!πŸ˜±πŸ˜‚
